Hot Work
Tool Steel

Hot work tool steels have been developed for applications which occur under elevated temperatures, performing well with heat, pressure and wear conditions.

Hot Work Tool Steel Properties

1) Maintaining their mechanical properties at elevated temperatures (tempering resistance, high-temperature strength, thermal shock resistance)

2) High wear resistance at elevated temperatures

3) High thermal conductivity

These are achieved from the addition of elements such as chromium, molybdenum, tungsten, vanadium, nickel and cobalt.

APPLICATIONS:

  • Forming
  • Shearing
  • Punching
  • Pressure die casting
  • Drop forging
  • Extruding
  • Glass and tube manufacturing
  • Tools for the plastics industry
