- Moderate red hardness properties
- Excellent base material for PVD/CVD coating
M2 steel is mainly used in a wide range of cutting tools and machine tools where demands for hot hardness are intermediate:
- Twist drill bits
- Knives
- Reamers
- Broaches
- Milling cutters and milling tools
- Taps
- Metal power saws
- Also suitable for cold work applications e.g. punching, forming & pressing
