O1 TOOL STEEL SUPPLIERS
O1, often referred to as 01 or 1.2510 is a general-purpose steel used where tool steels cannot provide the necessary hardness, strength and wear resistance, yet where the expense of a high carbide steel cannot be justified.
Supplied Condition:
We supply O1 in the soft annealed condition to max. 230 HB.
Rounds can be bandsaw cut to your requirements. Also available in wide plates & flats.
Chemical Composition (%):
| C | Mn | Cr | W | V |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0,95 | 1,10 | 0,60 | 0,60 | 0,10 |
- Oil-hardening, low alloy tool steel
- Good durability & excellent wear resistance
- Dimensional stability when heat treated
- Fine grain structure → easy to sharpen so it holds a keen cutting edge
O1 Tool Steel applications:
Steel O1 is mainly used in typical applications for short to medium-run tooling for cold forming dies, blanking dies, cutting and punching tools operating at ambient temperature.
That makes it perfect for:
- Press tools
- Thread rolling tools
- Punches
- Knock-out pins
- Cams
- Knife blades
- Measuring instruments
- Gauges
- Jigs
- Broaches
- Lathes
- Shear knives
- Paper & cloth cutting machine knives
- Precision measuring tools
- Woodworking tools
Soft Annealing
| Temperature | Cooling | Hardness |
| 740 - 770°C | furnace | max. 230 HB |
Stress Relief Annealing
| Temperature | Cooling |
| 600 - 650°C | furnace |
Hardening
| Temperature | Cooling | Tempering |
| 790 - 820°C | oil or hot bath 180 - 220°C | see tempering diagram |
